TRENTON – Governor Jon S. Corzine issued the following statement regarding response and preparedness during the weekend winter storm:

“I want to commend the work of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Transportation, and the Board of Public Utilities, as well as state, county and local emergency personnel, who are working diligently in response to the current winter storm. I am pleased to report that all response efforts have been successful thus far, with no shelter or mass-care requests. And we are thankful that there have been no reports of storm-related fatalities.

“The State Police and local law enforcement continue to work numerous traffic accidents due to the hazardous road conditions. And while we have reports of spot power outages, nothing is anticipated to be long-term.

“I would like to express my appreciation to emergency response personnel across the state for their hard work through this winter storm and for protecting the health and safety of New Jersey residents.”
