For nearly four hours Monday, the 201 graduates of the Community Education Resource Network homeschool program packed the Gordon Theatre at Rutgers University to celebrate their milestone achievement.

They had more than their fair share of obstacles to get to this day, said school choice activist Angel Cordero, who helped found the Network in January 2007 with a group of about 15 parents who were frustrated with the quality and safety of the public schools.
