By SUZANNE C. RUSSELL Applications are being sought to fill the Board of Education seat vacated by long-time member Raymond Geneske. Geneske, a retired school teacher who served 10 years on the school board, resigned from his seat Tuesday, June 2, citing pending legal action. Later that week he pleaded guilty in state Superior Court to money laundering in connection with former Mayor Joseph Vas's 2006 congressional campaign. Last week Geneske, 73, admitted in federal court that he funneled campaign funds to "straw contributors" to circumvent federal election law for that same campaign.
