PERTH AMBOY —Civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dominican political leader Juan Pablo Duarte are getting special recognition from the city.
City Council members have approved plans to give Madison Avenue the honorary name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard while Caledonia/Roessler Park will receive the honorary name of Juan Pablo Duarte Park. The original names of the street and park will remain. Signs for the honorary names will be placed under the original names.
