Districts pool resources for influx of Latino students |

Julio Picallo had little idea he would be taking on a secondary role as a professional translator when he first came to Netcong as a Spanish teacher eight years ago. But at back-to-school night this year, Picallo had to interpret the superintendent's speech for Spanish-speaking parents. And he now spends up to eight hours a week translating school letters, discipli nary messages and assignments -- for which the district began paying him a small stipend last year.
