With a bullhorn at her side, Marion Bolden stood anxiously waiting on the side of a road leading to Forest Lodge in Warren.

Bolden had greeted every busload pulling in with an amplified "Good Morning."

But the students from both Barringer and Technology high schools had yet to arrive at the annual celebration honoring the more than 2,000 seniors attending Newark schools.

"They're missing it," she said, shaking her head. "This is their day, they should be here."

It was a moment that illustrated one of the things people like most about Bolden: her genuine concern for kids.
