A Lakewood woman has been indicted on charges that she falsely registered 32 motor vehicles for undocumented immigrants.

Authorities claim Ivette M. Encarnacion, 53, conspired to register the vehicles through state Motor Vehicle Commission offices in Lakewood, Freehold and Toms River from June 13, 2006, until April 30 this year. The indictment, which charges her with 29 counts of third-degree tampering with records, was handed up by a Monmouth County grand jury Friday.

If found guilty, Encarnacion could face up to five years in state prison and a fine of $15,000 for each charge.
