The "Help is Here Express" bus tour will visit the Neighborhood Health Center in Plainfield on Friday to help uninsured and financially-strappped residents obtain information on programs that provide prescription medicines for free or at low cost. The center is at 1700-58 Myrtle Ave.

The bus tour, scheduled to stop in Plainfield from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is part of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, a nationwide effort sponsored by pharmaceutical research companies that aims to increase awareness of patient assistance programs and the need to address chronic diseases.

Patients can also learn about developing medicines to fight diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and asthma, according to event organizers.
