PATERSON -- During his three years running the city's school district, Michael Glascoe has inspired admiration and disdain, with few people in the middle.

The leadership style of the schools superintendent alienated him from the teacher's union and state officials, though it endeared him to school board members and some community leaders.

When Glascoe leaves the district on June 30, he said it will be with a sense that he has accomplished much and that he didn't do enough.
