Michael Glascoe will end his tenure as Paterson's schools superintendent on June 30, but his replacement is nowhere in sight.

The state will appoint an interim superintendent -- still to be named -- to take his place on July 1 for a temporary term. Meanwhile the state has not even formed a search committee to find a permanent superintendent, a cause for concern among staff and school board members.

"The hour is very late," said Michael Rush, a deputy superintendent. "I go to meetings and I can see the fear in principals."
