By DIANE HAINES PATERSON -- Jesus Ramirez of Passaic was up against 300 other students in a statewide trigonometry competition. He took first place. "I was the fastest and the most accurate," said Ramirez, 18, who is the valedictorian from Passaic High School. Next month he is entering the national competition. If Ramirez tops the competition, he will secure a $2,000 college scholarship. In the fall, he is headed to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, where he will study mechanical engineering. He wants to design airplanes. Ramirez, who had the highest grade point average in the senior class, was joined at a breakfast Friday by Yvette Jimenez, the school salutatorian.
