By SUZANNE RUSSELL City firefighter Carlos Gonzalez will be leaving for Iraq with the Marine Reserves on Saturday. And this time Gonzalez indicated he's confident he will have his city job waiting for him when he comes back to Perth Amboy. Gonzalez, 26, expressed confidence in the city's mayor-elect Wilda Diaz that he won't face the possibility of his job being cut, again. This is Gonzalez' second deployment. "We hope he comes back safe,'' said Sammy Arroyo, a city firefighter and president of the Professional Latino Firefighters of Central New Jersey. Gonzalez served in Anbar province of Iraq from December 2005 to October 2006. At the time he was deployed, he had left with assurances that his city job would be waiting when he returned. |
