The Arizona Republic

SCOTTSDALE - Quepasa Corp., once one of the Valley's highest-flying dot-coms that sought to be the Internet portal for a booming Hispanic market, has moved its headquarters to Florida.

Quepasa, now a former dot-com, terminated its lease on its Scottsdale Airpark headquarters effective May 1 and moved its offices to West Palm Beach, executives said on an update conference call with investors last week.

The company has sublet the Scottsdale offices, chief financial officer Mike Matte said. He did not respond to phone calls for more details on the move.
In a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the formerly Scottsdale-based Quepasa said the lease on its 15,931-square-foot office near Hayden and Redfield roads was due to expire in May 2009. The early termination cost the company $64,261 to the landlord and its $44,703 security deposit.

As of late March, Quepasa said, it still had its data center in Tempe and 12 of its 63 employees in the United States. Most of its employees are based in its Mexico software development center.

Quepasa once gave Arizona investors a taste of dot-com wealth, but also the bitterness of crashing losses.
