And while colleges look for academic excellence among applicants, admissions officers are trying to expand their search criteria. Now websites are trying to bring both groups together. By allowing students to market themselves to schools, the websites (Cappex.com, EdSoup.com and Zinch.com) say they can match the right teen with the right college. Designed like Facebook and MySpace, Zinch.com allows college-bound teens to post not only their grades and SAT scores but photos, short stories and films of their performances in plays and musicals.
