PATERSON — After complaining for weeks that they were left out of the process to find a new schools superintendent, Board of Education members finally got a chance to talk with the state education commissioner Wednesday.

In a two-hour public meeting at the Hamilton Club, Lucille Davy outlined the state’s plans to find a new leader for Paterson’s public schools including the use of an outside search consultant and a search committee appointed by the governor.

Throughout, Davy tried to emphasize the state’s desire for involvement by the community and school board and stressed the similarities between the state plan and the one outlined by board members. Still, several board members left the meeting skeptical that they would be included to the extent they sought.
