By CHRIS LUNDY Camila Arias had more trouble than most children starting at a new school. "People treat you differently because you don't speak the language," she said. Now 17, she moved here from the Dominican Republic two years ago, enrolling in Brick Township High School. "There's not a lot of Hispanic people around here," she said. Arias knew basic English, but learned a lot more in class and trying to talk with others. "People are polite, but they don't initiate a conversation with you" when you don't speak their language, she said. And she will need to know the language to pursue fashion marketing and management after high school. Arias was one of several students who were part of a "cultural capsule" created to show the administration what it is like as an immigrant student to go through a transition into Brick, and what could be done to make it easier, said Veronica Reid, who teaches English as a Second Language and Spanish at the school.
