By MATTHEW McGRATH Lakewood High School sophomores gathered in the auditorium early Tuesday morning to listen to Principal Gil Suarez deliver his proposal to counter his students' overall declining performance. "Our scores are at rock bottom," Suarez said as he waived the high school's report card. "I don't want to hear excuses." Lakewood's scores on the High School Proficiency Assessment are well below the statewide averages, and passing the test is required for graduation.
