By JASON HARRIS MOUNT HOLLY — There is a pronounced difference between the performance of white students at Rancocas Valley Regional High School on the state's High School Proficiency Exam and the performance of their black and Hispanic classmates. Far more minority students are found to be only partially proficient; far more whites qualify as advanced. The school's Minority Issues Committee wants to learn why the black and Hispanic students aren't performing as well and how the school can help them do better. “Some people don't believe there are special minority issues,” said committee chairwoman Marsha Addison, a math teacher. “We want to use the data to see what minority issues there are educationally.” READ MORE: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/112-03092008-1500609.html |
