Elizabeth Superintendent Pablo Munoz presented a dramatic restructuring plan to the board of education last night that would eliminate traditional middle schools and create 25 schools serving prekin dergarten through eighth grade.

The plan, slated to start in September, also would ease congestion at Elizabeth's overcrowded high school by turning an existing building into a new high school "house." The house would accommodate as many as 1,000 students and offer a college prep and Advanced Placement curriculum for students with a 2.0 grade-point average or better, spokesman Don Goncalves said. It has not been determined where the house would be located.
