Tammy Pabon, a former carpenter, opened a construction-supply firm a year ago consisting of five other women.

Yesterday, Pabon, 42, was in Camden to learn about acquiring a new building for her firm, Shop Girl Supply, now in Millstone Township, Monmouth County.

"I've got no problem taking a run-down building," perhaps in Trenton, she said, "because I can swing a hammer."

She was looking for "a neighborhood that needs redevelopment, that needs more employment."

Pabon was among the estimated 100 people looking for answers from 22 public and related agencies at the Latino Economic Growth Expo at Rutgers University-Camden.
