GOVERNOR CORZINE TO NOMINATE ROUSSEAU FOR STATE TREASURER POST

TRENTON – Governor Jon Corzine today announced that he would nominate Deputy State Treasurer David Rousseau to serve as New Jersey’s next State Treasurer.

“David is the consummate professional who has distinguished himself throughout state government, and I am confident he will continue to do so as State Treasurer,” said Governor Corzine. “His expertise in fiscal matters will be a tremendous asset in the upcoming months as we implement a fundamental restructuring of New Jersey’s finances, and seek long-term solutions to the state’s fiscal matters.”

Currently, Rousseau is the Senior Advisor to the Governor for Budget and Fiscal Policy and Deputy Sate Treasurer. In those roles, he works closely with the governor and treasurer in developing and implementing the annual state budget. Previously, Rousseau oversaw the operations of the Office of Management and Budget and participated in the operations of the Division of Taxation, Division and Pensions and Benefits and the Office of Public Finance.

Rousseau was Senior Policy Advisor to the Senate President focusing on the budget before assuming his current position in the Treasurer’s Office.

Rousseau received a bachelor’s degree from Temple University, where he graduated cum laude and holds an MBA from Rider University. He is a lifelong Mercer County resident, and currently lives in Hamilton with his wife and two children.

“This is a pivotal time in the history of our state, and I am honored that Governor Corzine has selected me to be a part of his ambitious and innovative plan to restructure the state’s finances,” Rousseau said. “If confirmed by the Senate, I will continue to advance the principles of sound financial management and fiscal responsibility that have been ongoing themes of Governor Corzine’s administration.”
