Felicidades Senator Teresa Ruiz! You have now entered the history books as the first Latina in New Jersey’s Senate.
And let us also congratulate Hudson County’s newest Latino members in the Assembly: Caridad Rodriguez and Ruben Ramos.
We also welcome back our returning members of the Assembly: Nilsa Cruz-Perez, Nellie Pou, Dr. Eric Muñoz, Vincent Prieto and Joe Vas.
And so long Assemblyman Wilfredo Caraballo! We will miss your fiery presence in Trenton but we know you’re going to keep telling it like it is.
LatinosNJ.com wishes only the best for our Latino sisters and brothers in the Legislature. They have some of the toughest gigs in this state – and we thank them for their commitment.
We hope that in 2008 we will see a united Latino Caucus that makes its presence known under the Golden Dome in a manner we have never seen before – as well as throughout New Jersey. We want to hear them holler!
And when things get rough at the State House – as we all know they will – LatinosNJ.com suggests that they each go into their respective offices, take out a favorite Latino tune like Hector LaVoe’s “Mi Gente,” and crank up the music as loud as they can. Imagine those stately halls resounding with the sounds of Hector singing:
Mi gente lo más grande de este mundo siempre me hacen sentir un orgullo profundo In fact, let’s all join our voices and sing together. Here’s a link to get us all started on what we know will be a good year for Latinos in New Jersey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFuiVl0W8uY |
