Hello everyone,
Hope all are doing well. I know this forum is very new and it's going to take some time for the networking to pick up. But just in case, I want to solicit help from those that do visit and provide opinions. I created a mentoring program in the fall of 2005 that takes High School students from Trenton to The College of New Jersey. In 2006 I became a Commissioner on the New Jersey Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission, this I thought would help the program since the state would most likely provide funding for such an awesome program. But I was wrong. The 5 Billion dollar deficit is so much that I’ve been asked to fundraise for the program. I can’t begin to tell you how much of my spare time this takes, and how backwards it is to the Legacy of Martin Luther King and to the African-American and Latino kids who the state should willingly help. But that’s another story for another time.
What I want to ask if anyone has money for this program? Five dollars, ten, 100 I don’t care, I’m frustrated with the lack of support from State Government, and I’m frustrated with the red tape I have to go through to receive funds for this program. I have a write-up of the program; I can email it to you. And if you do have money to give please give Judith Fenelus a call at 609-777-4134 she’s the director for the commission. And when you call please tell her you read this message. Most likely she will tell you to contact me, tell her you are ready to donate and that you need the information necessary to deposit the money for the mentoring program.
I’m trying to expand this to middle schools but the lack of funding is prohibiting from the program even continuing at the level it was.
Please, if you have any questions email me at
Gerson.martinez7@gmail.com and I can provide the appropriate information.
Thank you,
Gerson Martinez
